After a good start to my apparel brand, The Sandpiper Shirt Co., I started looking into trademarking only to find that someone was approved for a trademark on Sandpiper in December. Bummer! Rather than fighting it, I've decided to go with a new name which I will trademark. I'd like to stay in the same general theme as sandpiper for a few reasons. I like my bird! I like the symbolism with the coastal lifestyle focus of the brand. Shorebirds are found ONLY on beaches, and are very loyal to their home beach, returning every year to lay eggs. It all fits with my hashtag, #bragonyourbeach. It'll also be less work just changing the words in the logo rather than starting all over. Other similar names will be considered, even if just changing to apparel, outfitters, etc. Keep in mind, I'm selling shirts, posters, mugs, beach towels, and more. Competition includes southern prep brands like Southern Shirt, Southern Fried Cotton, Southern Proper, Coastal Cotton, Vineyard Vines, etc.
